Monte Carlo Diorama

Monte Carlo Diorama

The Monte Carlo Diorama is based on the idear to have a switchable Diorama plate. Saving place and having the possibility to present the cars on several scenes. I did take a massive wood plate with the dimentions of 48 x 30 cm and fixed the track pieces at the border

db01.jpg

I fixed on the bottom of the track piece a small wire with a piece of plastic - two little holes in the wood plate and a made a dimple to get the plate plain on the desk.

db02.jpg

Then you go to a train modell shop and you buy a decoration wall, but take attention that the brick pieces are almost near 1/43 gauge.

db03.jpg

This wall piece is cutted allong the bricks so that you get a scewness.

db04.jpg

Quick check on the wood board.... not too bad I think...

db05.jpg

Now you are fixing a L-bar from a DIY market with hot glue and on the L-bar a cardboard piece.

db06.jpg

Why the cardboard? Just wait a moment... On the cardboard is now fixed the wall piece.

db07.jpg

Why the cardboard? Now the answer: as the wall piece boarder is, let´s say, bright red we have to do an detail work later and to have enough place, we fixed the cardboard between the L-bar and the wall piece.

db08.jpg

At the base of the wall piece an other L-bar is fixed, to have a better standing when finished.

db09.jpg

On the opposite side we now put at the left and right little feets...

db10.jpg

db11.jpg

... and it´s standing!

db12.jpg

Makes almost now a good impression to me...

db13.jpg

As our Diorama was just looking not too bad, we will now make it to what it is destined - to make f***ing good photos!

First we take a modell mold of our choce to close the area between upper track peace and wall...

db14.jpg

With the rest we make out of a card board or wood piece (my choice) a rock wall. Just let your imagination take over!

db15.jpg

Just a little check... OK, looking good! Just let the mold 24 hours to dry, even when the manufacture indicates a shorter time.

db16.jpg

When everything is dry the area between upper trac piece and wall is painted. I use a paint brush and Revell model paint. Again a short check.. OK for me!

db17.jpg

To get realistic efekts I use three sorts of color, as the photo eye is quite better than the human...

db18.jpg

The back wall was also painted.

After driying we put green stuff of the rail model shop to wall and rock wall. I put superglue with a toothpick on the wall and add gently the green stuff on it.

db19.jpg

Quite harder to make with the rock wall, but also practible.

db20.jpg

Now I fix the rock wall to the track feets - without glue, as we never know, if we don´t have a better idear for the back in the future years...

db21.jpg

Finished the quick change diorama piece!

db22.jpg

Only putted at the plate track piece...

db23.jpg

...and we have a wonderfull scenery for two slotcars...

db24.jpg

..or the one and only wonderfull!

Sebatian

I hope that you did find enough insperation... just enjoy your handicraft!
